Well seeing as Second Life still doesn't want to work for me I've taken some time to look at some 3D avatars on YouTube. The most appealing ones are those with exaggerated features, when comparing them to the likes of my avatar on Second Life it's a lot easier to understand what they represent. The avatars on Second Life all have the same basic skeleton so its harder to create an identity, in terms of exaggerating features at least, than it will be when creating mine using 3D Studio Max.
Originally I was going to create an identity by creating an avatar which showed an alter ego, with hope that if it showed my opposite people may understand that. However, at this stage I'm unsure of this idea's potential success, and although I'm not ruling it out completely I am resorting to the technique of exaggerating personality features to the extent that they can be showed physically.
